Ocean Innovators Platform Advances Blue Economy at New York Climate Week
On September 24, 2024, the Ocean Innovators Platform hosted its 7th edition at the Harvard Club during New York Climate Week, bringing together thought leaders, investors, and innovators to drive action on ocean sustainability.
In his opening remarks, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco reaffirmed his Foundation’s deep commitment to ocean conservation, emphasizing that “a healthy ocean is essential to human survival, and it is time that we recognize the vast opportunities it offers us.” He stressed that while philanthropy plays a role, achieving a sustainable future requires rethinking economic models and scaling up innovative solutions.

The event featured two high-level panels:
- “Paving the Way for a Regenerative Blue Economy” with insights from H.R.H. Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, exploring the intersection of ocean, climate, and business.
- “Driving Innovation in the Blue Economy” with changemakers including Daniela Fernandez (Sustainable Ocean Alliance), Geoff Chapin (Carbon Wave), Steven Henderson (Fleetzero), and Svanika Balasubramanian (rePurpose Global), showcasing cutting-edge solutions transforming ocean industries.
A healthy ocean is essential to human survival and it is time that we recognize the vast opportunities that it offers us. We have the tools, the knowledge and the innovations, we must now need the collective will to bring these solutions to scale.
